Most of my readers tend to be from the US, so I used US stats. I could’ve gone with Sierra Leone stats, but it seems a bit dishonest when they are about 100x worse than the US.

To be fair, the US tends to be one of the worst countries in the OECD for maternal death, but the main point is that pregnancy and childbirth are traumatic events that are not risk-free. If childbirth was 10x safer than it is now, it would still be far more dangerous than an abortion for the mother.
