There’s a long litany of things that we know are probably a bit bad for us but that we wish were actually medicine. Whether it’s the idea that alcohol can cure various diseases, or our collective desire that coffee be a miracle treatment for every problem under the sun, we often long for things that are considered a bit naughty to really be beneficial for our health.

Nowhere is this more true than cannabis. It’s not enough that the wonderful weed can add fun to a party — we desperately want marijuana to cure everything from cancer to psychosis, even though there’s not much evidence that it does.

Unfortunately, the science isn’t nearly as settled as you might’ve heard, and the jury is still very much out on whether marijuana has any benefit for Covid-19 at all.
